THE PROBLEM
The traditional retail pharmacy experience is often inefficient and frustrating for patients, marked by long wait times, medication shortages, and cumbersome prescription management. Patients frequently encounter difficulties in tracking their medication needs, managing refills, and navigating insurance verifications, leading to delays and potential health risks. These inefficiencies not only disrupt patients' access to necessary medications but also create a suboptimal healthcare experience.
THE OBJECTIVE
Research, strategize, and design an end-to-end web app experience that enables pharmacy to efficiently process the patient prescriptions, reducing wait times and enabling timely medication delivery. The app to automate insurance verification, minimizing delays and errors. Enhanced communication features within the app ensure clear and consistent updates among pharmacy staff, improving overall coordination.
Process I followed
1. UNDERSTANDING
2. IDEATION
3. DESIGN& TEST
1. UNDERSTANDING
To understand the requirements, business goals, and users, I worked closely with stakeholders and the product manager. I also spent time understanding the existing offline processes to translate them effectively into seamless online experiences.

3. IDEATE AND TEST
Based on the gathered understanding, I created paper sketches primarily focusing on showing patient details and recording experience and tested the experience with clinicians

4. DESIGN AND TEST
Based on the paper wireframes, the designs for the internal pharmacy app cater specifically to pharmacists accustomed to tracking everything manually on Google Sheets and through human interventions. The app's interface is designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, simplifying complex tasks such as prescription management, inventory tracking, and insurance verification.
By incorporating familiar elements from Google Sheets while leveraging automation and real-time data updates, the app aims to streamline workflows, reduce human error, and improve overall efficiency in pharmacy operations. This approach ensures a smooth transition from traditional methods to a modern, digitally-enhanced pharmacy management system, enhancing both accuracy and productivity for pharmacy staff.
